The Kenyan youth have enough potential that given a chance, they can use it to bring positive change to this country.VYP is committed to harnessing the potential in youth for national leadership and development. In many occasions, after facing frustrations, the youth have turned to crime and violence to utilize this energy that the country has failed to harness by turning to crime and violence like has been witnessed in the past.

VYP is led by young people and has taken special interest in promoting youth development. The Youth Enterprise Fund initiated by the government is a brilliant idea but lacks the mechanisms necessary to make it work as dishing out money for the youth to start businesses is not enough.

More than 70% of registered voters in Kenya are people age below 35 years and if not well engaged for mutual benefit by the government, it will be very difficult to achieve success in the development agenda, if the events following the disputed 2007 general elections are anything to go by.

VYP Advocacy plans are hinged on issues with greatest output of employment opportunities and expanded participation of the youth in leadership. VYP is involved in capacitating youth groups so that they are at a position where they can address issues that are affecting them and channel them in the right ways so that they can be noted by the authorities concerned and addressed appropriately.
